Troubles

Troubles are something that’s normally used in Fate, but we haven’t used them as of yet because we have been learning the game and adding a little at a time. That said, they are actually a simple addition to named or important characters. They are similar to a High Concept except instead of being something that wraps up your character in a few words they describe something that makes life difficult for your character. Maybe you have a relentless enemy, a stocker, or perhaps owe money to someone. It doesn’t have to be a relationship though. It could be terrible manners, or your character is easily confused. Additionally it could be something physical, like a bad knee, or being over weight. Just be careful using things that can also be considered conditions because those can be healed over time. Not to say that one can not recover from a trouble, but it shouldn’t be something that will heal by itself over time, but rather something that gives the character flavor, personality, and likely goals.

I’m not going to require that you take a trouble for this campaign, but if you do I’ll let you start with an extra Refresh.
